ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST

ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST

Hello and welcome to my website.

My name is Kamalyn Kaur, founder of Key Therapies. I am a professionally trained, qualified and experienced Cognitive Behaviour Therapist.

I hold a qualification in Counselling Skills, certified by COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) is a professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. It sets the standards and guidance for therapeutic practice. I am a fully registered member of the BACP, adhering to their codes of ethics, abiding by their professional conduct and fulfil their requirements for ongoing clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

Additionally, I have a Diploma in Life Coaching, certified by ASET – a national awarding body in the UK.

I have been working as a therapist since 2012.  Since this time, I have been fortunate enough to work with a diverse range of individuals from all walks of life and various organisations from the public; private; and voluntary sectors.  I love working; communicating and engaging with individuals to help alleviate any issues that may be causing emotional distress.  Just some of the issues that I have worked with individuals, on a one to one basis, to address are abuse, anxiety, depression, eating disorders low self confidence, low self esteem, marital difficulties, stress and post-traumatic stress.

When working with clients the counselling approach that I use is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). This approach believes that every situation in our lives creates a chain reaction of thoughts, feelings and behaviours – leading us at times to “get stuck” in a vicious cycle from which we cannot break free. The longer you are stuck in this vicious cycle the more you will feel unhappy, anxious, depressed, sad or helpless.

As your therapist, I will help you to understand YOUR chain reaction of thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I will work collaboratively with you to help you become self aware and mindful. Over the course of the therapy sessions I will equip you with the tools, techniques and long term coping strategies that will help you to break free from the vicious cycles, allowing you to be in control of your own happiness.

CBT is a goal orientated and solution focussed approach to therapy, meaning we will not have to spend too much time talking about your past. We will collaboratively set goals at the start of the therapy and each session will be geared at working towards achieving YOUR goals. As a result of this structured approach, successful results can be achieved within 15 – 20 sessions (exact sessions required are subject to individual needs).

As your therapist, I will always ensure that you, as my client, are completely comfortable, at ease, and able to openly discuss your matters in a safe and secure environment.

Happiness is seen as something elusive and it only happens to other people. I want you to know that happiness is your birthright and I can help you be happy in life.

If you have experienced or are currently experiencing difficulties in your life that you would like to address, or learn to cope better with, feel free to contact me.
